Top 10 Tips for Moving Home from Somerset to St Helens
Planning a move from Somerset to St Helens? Whether you’re relocating for a sea change, a job opportunity, or just a fresh start, the right preparation can make all the difference. These expert tips are based on real moving experiences from the Somerset region — tailored to help you save time, reduce costs, and keep your move stress-free.
1. Book Your Somerset to St Helens Removalists Ahead of Time
Removal slots can fill quickly — especially around holidays, school breaks, and the end of month. Secure your preferred date early to lock in the best price and availability.
2. Declutter Before You Pack a Single Box
Every extra item adds weight, volume, and cost. Sort through furniture, clothing, and garage clutter before moving day. Sell, donate, or recycle what you don’t truly need at your new home.
3. Label Boxes by Room and Urgency
Make unpacking simple with a clear labeling system. Include the room and importance level (e.g. “Bathroom – open first”) on each box to avoid the dreaded box shuffle at the other end.
4. Choose Strong Packing Materials
Sturdy boxes, tape, and bubble wrap are worth the investment. If you're backloading from Somerset to St Helens, quality packaging ensures your belongings stay protected while sharing truck space.
5. Pack a ‘First Night’ Essentials Kit
This one box should include everything you'll need in the first 24 hours — toiletries, basic tools, chargers, medications, and snacks. Keep it in your car or clearly marked for easy access.
6. Check Access at Both Properties
Make sure removal trucks can access both the Somerset departure address and your new home. Think driveways, parking restrictions, gates, stairs, and lift access.
7. Get a Detailed Quote (Not Just an Estimate)
Ask for a full breakdown of your moving costs, including optional services like pre-packing, storage, or vehicle transport. Click here for a free moving quote from Tas Removals & Storage.
8. Prepare for Tasmania’s Seasonal Changes
Weather across Tasmania can shift fast — even in a single day. Wrap items to protect against moisture, wind, and UV exposure. Consider sealed tubs for valuables or electronics.
9. Be Flexible if You Want to Save
If your move-out date is flexible, ask about discounted backloading options. Trucks regularly pass through St Helens and you might score a better deal by sharing the load.
10. Choose Movers Who Know Tasmania
Moving across Tasmania isn’t just about distance — it’s about experience. Choose removalists who understand the roads, logistics, and small-town quirks between Somerset and St Helens. Local expertise leads to smoother moves.

The customer service was great. We got an affordable quote and the whole process from pickup to
delivery was a success! My partner and I are very happy with the outcome and would like to highly
recommend Tas Removals and Storage!
Tas Removals moved us from Hobart to Launceston. We couldn’t have asked for a better moving company.
Affordable, quick and effective at everything they did. Handled everything with care and made the
whole process quick and easy!
We were dreading the whole moving process. After several quotes, we spoke to TAS Removals and Storage
and decided to go with them. They communicated well and we have a slight delay, but it all worked
out really well in the end. Highly Recommended moving company!!!
These guys were great! Competent would be an understatement. They went above and beyond by hiring
more guys to help with our large move! We moved into a new home with a very long steep drive way!
They moved everything carefully during the whole process! Nothing was broken and we were extremely
happy with the overall process.
We were excited about moving. Then when it come to packing and organising everything outlined by
tas removals we got scared the whole thought process becoming daunting! They told us they could
pack everything and get it ready for the move. So we did that and it turned out great! Highly
recommended local Tassie removal company right here!!!
My wife found these guys online and I thought we would give it a go. The staff members we dealt
with were very good at communicating. Nothing was broken and everything was picked up on time and
delivered on time. Would use these guys again!
As a single man with not a lot of things. I have moved a lot over the years and I must say that
these guys were GREAT!!! Cheap, professional and the communication was good! When I move again
I will be sure to look these guys up and I would recommend you do the same
Tas removals did a backload from Sorell to Hobart. We had a large amount of furniture to bring
and these guys were good! They handled everything carefully as I had a lot of antique furniture.
Everything was wrapped and wrapped again and then when they loaded it all on the truck it was
wrapped again with blankets of some sort. Awesome job guys! Highly recommended.
Tas Removals and Storage are an awesome company. Friendly and professional, they really cared about our move.
I can be quite pedantic about certain things but the overall move was a great success!
